1. Overview

We respect your right to control your personal data. You can delete your Whisl account at any time directly from within the mobile app. This page explains the deletion process, what happens to your data, and how the 30-day recovery window works.

2. How to Delete Your Account

To delete your account from the Whisl mobile app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Whisl app and navigate to Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  3. Review the information about what will happen to your data.
  4. Type "DELETE" to confirm your request.
  5. Optionally, provide a reason for leaving (this helps us improve).
  6. Tap Confirm to submit your deletion request.

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to recover your account if you change your mind.

3. What Happens When You Delete Your Account

When you submit a deletion request, the following actions are taken immediately:

  • Your personal information (name, email, phone number, address, and profile photo) is anonymized.
  • Your sign-in account is disabled, preventing further logins.
  • All active sessions are terminated.
  • A confirmation email is sent to your registered email address with a recovery link.

You will not be able to sign in or use the app after your deletion request is processed.

4. 30-Day Recovery Window

After submitting a deletion request, you have 30 days to recover your account. During this period:

  • Your account is in a soft-deleted state and can be fully restored.
  • To recover your account, click the recovery link in the confirmation email you received.
  • If you no longer have the email, contact us at support@whisl.app for assistance.

5. Permanent Deletion

After the 30-day recovery window expires, your account and associated data are permanently and irreversibly deleted. This includes:

  • Your profile information and preferences
  • Game history and assignment records
  • Ratings and reviews
  • Chat messages
  • Notification history

Once permanently deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

6. Data Retained for Legal Compliance

Certain records are retained after account deletion as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Payment and transaction records — retained for tax, accounting, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Fraud prevention records — retained to protect the integrity of the platform.

Retained records are anonymized where possible and are not used for marketing or profiling purposes.

7. Before You Delete

Please ensure the following before submitting a deletion request:

  • You have no active game assignments — you must complete or cancel any upcoming games first.
  • You have no pending payments — all outstanding payments must be settled before deletion.

If you have active bookings or pending payments, the app will notify you and prevent deletion until they are resolved.
